• Compeer is an international organization that began in Rochester, NY, in 1973. There are close to 80 Compeer Programs in the United States, Canada and Australia.
   
• Compeer of the Mohawk Valley, is one of three of the 26 New York State programs to receive an Exemplary Status from Compeer International Headquarters.  CMV has demonstrated impressive program growth, as well as outstanding quality and breadth of services offered.
   
• Compeer has received recognition from the U.S. Department of Mental Health and the American Psychiatric Association.
   
• Friendship is what Compeer is all about. Compeer brings trained volunteers together with adults or youth in "one-to-one" friendship matches.
